Samsung’s Galaxy Ring, initially teased during the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17 alongside the Galaxy S24 series, is set to make its debut as a health and fitness tracker compatible with the Samsung Health suite. Although no detailed information was disclosed during the event, subsequent leaks have shed light on its features and design. Now, Daniel Seung Lee, a senior executive at Samsung, has officially confirmed the launch timeline for the Galaxy Ring.
In a LinkedIn post, Lee stated that the much-anticipated Galaxy Ring will be unveiled in the second half of 2024. While he refrained from providing additional specifics or an exact date, the confirmed timeline aligns with previous speculations that the smart ring might be revealed alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year.
Recent sightings of the Samsung Galaxy Ring on the Good Lock app, specifically in the battery widgets section, have fueled expectations of an imminent launch. The smart ring is anticipated to be a “lightweight” wearable, available in three colour variants and multiple sizes, with support for pogo pin charging.
Samsung has positioned the Galaxy Ring as a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device,” emphasizing its role in health and fitness tracking. The official teaser showcased a smooth, round ring equipped with sensors on the underside. Previous leaks suggest that the Galaxy Ring may feature electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG), or atrial fibrillation (AFib) sensors, along with 24×7 heart rate, SpO2, and sleep trackers. All health, fitness, and sleep data are expected to sync with the Samsung Health suite for comprehensive monitoring.
