The upcoming Nothing Phone 2a, the third smartphone from the brand founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, is set to launch soon in India. In preparation for its official debut, the UK-based company has revealed that the upcoming phone will be available through Flipkart in India. In addition to this announcement, alleged hands-on images of the Nothing Phone 2a have emerged on the web, offering a glimpse into its specifications. The leaked images showcase a black version of the Phone 2a with a hole-punch cutout situated at the center of the screen for the selfie camera. Rumors suggest that the Nothing Phone 2a will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC.
Flipkart has created a dedicated microsite to tease the arrival of the Nothing Phone 2a smartphone, featuring a “coming soon” tag. The page includes a Nothing community update video where the company’s co-founder and marketing lead, Akis Evangelidis, discusses the upcoming handset. While the landing page does not specify the launch date or key features, it builds anticipation for the upcoming release.
Additionally, alleged hands-on images and specifications of the Nothing Phone 2a have been shared by a Reddit user. The images reveal both the front and back of the handset, featuring a privacy cover and showcasing a distinct design language from its predecessors. Despite the privacy cover, the photos suggest the presence of two rear-facing cameras, arranged horizontally towards the center of the back panel. The leaked details indicate that the Nothing Phone 2a will run on Android 13, boasting a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, the phone may feature a dual rear camera setup with 50-megapixel Samsung GN9 and 50-megapixel JN1 sensors, along with a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 front camera. The phone is expected to be available in black and white shades.
While an official launch date is yet to be announced for the Nothing Phone 2a, expectations point towards a release around the time of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 later this month. Codenamed Aerodactyl, the handset is confirmed to inherit some features from last year’s Nothing Phone 2 and promises an enhanced user experience compared to the initial Nothing Phone 1.
