Microsoft OneNote is now accessible on the Apple Vision Pro, enhancing the cloud-based note-taking experience with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) environments. Users can enjoy immersive note-taking with hands-free speech mode and virtual keyboard typing using finger-tracking sensors. Earlier this year, Zoom also launched a compatible app for this mixed-reality headset, supporting Apple’s Personas and expandable virtual meeting rooms.
Greg MacEachern, Product Manager at Microsoft, announced this integration in a blog post, stating, “Today, we are introducing the newest member of the OneNote family, on the Apple Vision Pro[..]You can plan trips, practice daily habits, and create/edit your task list, all in spatial reality – the OneNote experience on the Apple Vision Pro helps you stay productive, no matter where you are.”
The OneNote app for Apple Vision Pro supports both AR and VR environments, allowing users to interact with notes in floating or virtually created spaces. The app features speech-to-text capabilities and virtual keyboard input. Microsoft has ensured that Vision Pro users will enjoy similar features available in the iPad version of the app.
While the OneNote app on Vision Pro offers standard note-taking features like writing memos, creating digital notebooks, highlighting text, and adding tags for organization, additional security features such as password protection for notes are also available.
Moreover, Microsoft’s OneNote enables seamless sharing and cloud-syncing of notes, although some advanced features are exclusive to paid subscribers. The tech giant plans to introduce platform-specific enhancements in the future, including camera and photo insertion, Copilot integration, two-factor authentication, and more. The timeline for these additions has not been disclosed yet.
