Infinix recently announced the launch of its innovative near-field communication (NFC) technology, named 720-degree SphereTech NFC. The consumer technology brand claims this new advancement significantly enhances the existing NFC technology, improving both its signal radius and card reading area. However, the company has yet to reveal which smartphones will feature this new technology. Infinix asserts that the 720-degree SphereTech NFC will address common issues such as transaction failures and card readability in NFC-enabled smartphones, aiming to make the process more seamless.
SphereTech NFC Technology Overview
In a press release, Infinix described the 720-degree SphereTech NFC as a proprietary, self-developed technology that has been patented. The company highlighted that this NFC technology doubles the signal range and increases the card reading area by 200 percent compared to existing capabilities.
“Our commitment to innovation and understanding user needs has driven us to create a solution that not only enhances functionality but also provides unparalleled security and convenience for our users. The 720° SphereTech NFC significantly improves the mobile experience in NFC applications, offering seamless, reliable, and secure interactions from multiple angles,” said Li Cao, Senior Manager, NFC Department of Infinix.
Enhanced Features and Benefits
Infinix claims that the expanded signal coverage and stability of the SphereTech NFC will ensure smooth and seamless performance from any angle. Notably, smartphones equipped with SphereTech NFC can complete transactions when tapped on the front, back, and top sides, providing greater flexibility and ease of use.
The company explained that this new NFC technology was developed with an improved spatial layout, signal compatibility, and material type configuration. Although Infinix did not go into detail about these technological improvements, it emphasized that the main advantage for users will be the reduction of angle limitations and more reliable interactions during transactions.
Historical Context of NFC Technology
NFC technology first appeared in the Nokia 6131 in 2006, with the Google Nexus S being the first Android smartphone to utilize NFC in 2011. This technology allows smartphones and other devices to quickly exchange data by touching them together, commonly used for making transactions at retail touch points.
Stay tuned for further updates from Infinix on which smartphones will feature the new 720-degree SphereTech NFC, promising a significant leap forward in NFC technology for seamless and secure interactions.
