Password is required to create a wall between your privacy and strangers. This we all know that stronger the password is stronger the wall will be. Often this question would have arrived in your mind that how to make stronger passwords? Today where we work half of the time online and use various websites or Apps, it is very important for everyone to know the right technique of password making. Henceforth, let’s begin this mini journey of learning how to make stronger passwords?

How Passwords Get Hacked?

I will be of the opinion that before jumping on passwords making tricks it’s crucial to know about multiple ways by which one’s password could be hacked. Cybercriminals have several passwords cracking tactics but the easiest way is to buy a password from the dark web. There’s a whole black market running of buying and selling login credentials. Thus, it is advisable to keep changing your passwords from time to time.

Next is the Brute Force Attack, this attack guesses every possible combination until it reaches yours. With the speed of 350 billion guesses per second, this attack is quite dangerous.

Just like Brute Force Attack, a Dictionary Attack is also used to crack passwords. This attack tries a prearranged list of words like you would find in a dictionary. Indeed, if your password is normal word then its likely to be cracked.

Last one in the flow is Phishing, in which cybercriminals literally try to intimidate, trick or pressurise you through social engineering. Phishing scams can try to ensure you via phone calls and false emails.

All these most practised hacking tactics makes it super beneficial to create an unbreakable password.

Highlights Of Stronger Passwords

As of now, you know how passwords are broken, so you are qualified to learn how to make stronger passwords. The anatomy of a strong password is very simple that is “Be Smart”. Create unique passwords that do not contain any personal info such as name of anyone you know, date of birth, school’s name etc. Come up with new ideas. It’s natural that if someone is particularly targeting you then the pirate will try to put everything he knows about you in their guess attempts. Never use memorable keyboard paths like (qwerty) because these are the first to be guessed.

I have listed some basic tips that would make your password unbreakable.

a) Long Passwords- Always choose passwords of more than 15 characters or at least 10 characters. It increases the difficulty level.

b) Use Both Cases- In order to make your password healthy, it is recommended to use both Upper and Lower Case letters.

c) Mix Of Characters- Mixing of characters is often considered a smart step. The more you mix up numeric and alphanumeric characters the more qualified your password is. Insertion of symbols like @, #, %, &, etc is an eminent way of misleading cybercriminals.

d) Avoid Repetition- Repetitive passwords are boring and Brute Force attack can easily crack them. Never do this type of insanity.

Examples Of Strong Passwords

To make this post more practical I thought of adding some vivid examples of strong passwords.

Logic 1: The Mixing Method in which we mix characters in a sentence such as  I love my India in example 1.

Example 1: IL0vE@m44Yindi#a

Logic 2: The Sentence Method also known as     “Bruce Schneier Method.” Here, we extract the first two letters of each word in a sentence. Choose a normal sentence and convert it into a password using some rules.

Example 2: MyFasuarEMach&en [My favourite subjects are math, chemistry, and English]

Logic 3: The revised passphrase method in which you choose some uncommon names and convert them into a strong password with a twist.

Example 3: Asphaltguitgudkhk

Password Manager: For Password Remembering

As we use a plethora of websites daily and thus it is hard to learn each password. For this purpose, you can use the Password Manager. It does all password remembering for you except one master password. Additionally, it can also create perfectly strong passwords that are infinitely more difficult to crack.

Verdict

The bottom line is your safety is very important and you are only responsible for it. The content of the post is sufficient to show how strong passwords are created. Hopefully, this might have helped you.
