Apple is reportedly delving into a new product category, with rumors suggesting the development of a foldable device. The Cupertino-based tech giant’s foldable device is anticipated to boast a larger screen than most foldable smartphones currently available. Speculations hint at its comparability to the latest iPad Mini, and recent reports shed light on the potential launch timeline for this purported Apple foldable device.
According to The Elec, Apple is actively working on a foldable device, speculated to be a smartphone featuring a substantial display. The inner screen of this rumored book-style foldable device is estimated to measure between 7.6 and 8.4 inches, potentially making it Apple’s inaugural foldable smartphone or tablet. The anticipated launch window for the Apple foldable device, as per the report, is either 2026 or 2027.
If these speculations hold true, the size of the Apple foldable smartphone could position it as a replacement for the iPad Mini, which underwent a refresh in 2021, featuring an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD screen and starting at Rs. 49,900 in India. The 2021 iPad Mini is powered by Apple’s A15 Bionic chipset, offering storage variants of 64GB and 256GB, and is available in Pink, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey colors.
Earlier reports also hinted at Apple’s plans to upgrade the iPad Mini with an OLED display, potentially featuring a larger display than the current model. The speculated 8.7-inch screen, expected to launch in 2026, would be 0.4 inches larger than the current iPad model while retaining its status as the smallest iPad in Apple’s lineup.
