It has been two years since Sony revealed its flagship A9 full-frame mirrorless camera, which has already a beast of a performer. Now the company has also quietly introduced a follow up to that model, called by the name as A9 II. The new model does not add anything major over its predecessor, but it does get some notable improvements in terms of stabilization, ergonomics, and faster wired and wireless connectivity.

The Sony A9 II uses the same 24.2 MP full-frame CMOS image sensor but the Binoz X Image processor that has been upgraded to deliver a faster sensor readout and improved face, AE/AF tracking. Sony reveals that the five axes in-body image stabilization that has also been tweaked to offer a shutter compensation of around 5.5 stops. Sony also claims that the shutter mechanism has been redesigned, too, to avoid the motion blur and is even tested to last for around 500000 cycles.
Both the storage and wireless connectivity also have big upgrades on the Sony A9 II. The USB Type-C Port supports with the USB 3.2 Gen1 data transfer speeds, and both the SD card now supports the faster UHS-II speeds. In order to ease up the workflows, the A9 II includes a Gigabit Ethernet terminal, 5GHz Wi-Fi 802.11ac, TLS encryption, or File transfer for the added security.
Most of the other features on the Sony A9 II remain the same as the older version. The camera can shoot around 20fps with the electronic shutter with bi blackouts. Six hundred ninety-three on-sensor phase-detection autofocus points; 4K video recording of around 30fps; 3-inch touchscreen display and a 3.76M dot resolution electronic viewfinder.
