Apple has announced that the iPhone 15 series boasts an extended battery cycle lifespan compared to previous models. Updated documentation reveals that these latest smartphones can maintain 80 percent of their battery capacity through twice as many charge cycles as their predecessors. Additionally, the upcoming iOS 17.4 update will introduce a feature allowing users to monitor their phone’s battery “health” directly within the Settings app, alongside charge cycle information.
Apple recently updated its battery and performance support document to reflect the enhanced battery cycle lifespan of the iPhone 15 series. According to the updated document, iPhone 15 models are engineered to retain 80 percent of their original capacity after 1000 complete charge cycles, whereas iPhone 14 and earlier models achieve this at 500 charge cycles.
Apple clarified that these new figures stem from the latest testing conducted on the iPhone 15 lineup, which involved charging and discharging the battery under specific conditions. The company continues to refine battery components and power management systems for ongoing improvements. Owners of iPhone 15 series smartphones can access detailed battery statistics by navigating to Settings > General > About. This includes information such as manufacturing date, initial use date, and charge cycle count. These statistics are not available on iPhone 14 and older models. When iOS 17.4 rolls out in the near future, users can expect to find these battery statistics in a different section within the Settings app.
